The
restauration project
...back to my Maserati site...
In 1998 we bought the Maserati for restoration.
The car was in a good condition, but needed a new paint.
The engine was damaged and was already brought to an engine-rebuilder.
So we immediately start with dismantling the car.
This is not that big job, because half of the parts were already removed so
within a few days the car was totally naked.
Then we started to remove the paint.
Firstly we did
it by hand. Then we find out that it is easier to do this with sand.
Afther removing the paint, we brought the car to the sheet metal worker.
This man was very good in his job.
He perfectly weld the whole car to a perfect state.
Next step was
to spray the car in primer.
Almost 25 litres of epoxy were needed to spray every square inch of the body.
Now we started to straighten the car and make it ready for the final paint.
